![]() ![]() WebStorm provides a good Angular CLI integration by the so-called Angular Schematics: Unfortunately, VS Code is not that powerful at the moment. The IDE will first search for usages of the files and if they are found, you can check them and make necessary before the files are deleted. Using this functionality you can safely remove files from your source code during refactoring. In general, all the JetBrains IDEs are well known for their refactoring features:Ī well-known feature of the JetBrain IDEs is Safe Delete. You can rename a component and it updates all file names and usages both in the HTML as well as in the TypeScript files. In my opinion, refactoring code is much better using WebStorm. Using WebStorm you already have everything available per-default and, for example, for Angular just need to click "Debug Application" and you can set breakpoints in the editor and watch variables etc. ![]() VS Code can only debug web application on Chrome by using the Debugger For Chrome extension which you then need to configure for your application. This can be useful if you, for example, did a git push force by accident and overwrite your files even on the remote branch. You can inspect the history of files and directories and do rollbacks. WebStorm automatically tracks all the changes you made to your files and therefore protects you from accidentally losing these changes. ![]() VS Code does not save a local history of your changes but you can use extensions like Local History. You can commit files, review changes, and resolve conflicts with a visual diff/merge tool right in the IDE. WebStorm provides all the functionality for complex git work out of the box. You can either use extensions like GitLens or use additional tools like Sourcetree if you like to use a GUI for complex git work. VS Code has per default a pretty basic git integration. VS Code has currently no possibility to show this information: WebStorm shows if there are unresolved promises (in this case for a TypeScript application): Not waiting for promises can be really tricky if you expect the subsequent code to run only after the promise has been resolved. There is currently also a VS Code Karma Test Adapter in development which should provide a similar integrated Karma test functionality for VS Code. Alternatively, I use the karma-jasmine-html-reporter where you can also define to run only certain tests by clicking on them in the HTML page. fdescribe) which tells Karma to only run this certain test block. My Angular unit test workflow in VS Code is normally to mark a describe or it test block with a f (e.g. The following image shows such a test run: Running my jasmine & Karma tests in WebStorm I can easily jump to the failed test code and rerun only this specific test. This way you can run your tests directly from the IDE and even debug them there. WebStorm has an integrated test runner which I really like. This was basically what convinced me that using WebStorm results in a cleaner code base. To see the difference open your project which was developed in VS Code with WebStorm and run the code inspection. ![]() This can have a huge impact on the code quality of a large Angular code base which was mainly developed using VS Code. But if you are, for example, using a TypeScript project (like Angular) VS Code does not detect unused public methods. You can also detect unused methods in JavaScript methods using VS Code and ESLint with the rules no-unused-vars and no-unreachable. It also indexes your whole project and can, for example, detect all unused methods, variables and more. This analysis detects language and runtime errors, suggests corrections and improvements. WebStorm provides a robust, fast, and flexible static code analysis. In the following article, I talk about my experience using WebStorm in a large Angular application which was mainly developed in VS Code. This is a very hot topic and I know this will cause some controversy. In this blog post, I want to tell you why I now mainly use WebStorm instead of VS Code for development. First, I did not really consider his concerns but meanwhile, I understand him. In my current project, I met a developer who was really confused that I was using an editor and not an IDE for the development of large business applications. I really liked it because it was much faster, highly customizable and free so that I could also use it for my private projects. Additionally, I got a WebStorm license from my company and could, therefore, use it without any restrictions.Īs Visual Studio Code got more and more popular I used it for my further web projects. I was already used to JetBrains IDEs as I worked before with Android Studio which is based on IntelliJ IDEA. As I started my first JavaScript project in 2015 I used JetBrains WebStorm which is an IDE (integrated development environment) for JavaScript development. ![]()

Step 3: As you press in the on your accelerator slowly as you slowly let out on the clutch to start the truck moving. Step 2: Press your clutch in and put your shifter where first gear is. So if you put it into whatever gear position is gear 1 it will be gear 1L (depending on transmission of course). Step 1: The first time you load into the game every time the gearbox is going to be set to low range and the splitter will be in low. I will explain specific transmissions further in this guide. It's worth noting that I'm describing this in general terms with no specific transmission in mind. "Why", you may ask? Well, there are times when cornering or maneuvering that you are going to need to press those buttons with one hand on the shifter and one hand on the wheel. So let's jump right into how we shift a manual gearbox in a semi. You basically want to put these buttons somewhere that you can reach easily with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the shifter. The first thing I would like to say is on where to map these gears. Now it's time to explain how to use them. So I've shown you in the last section what allows us to get all these gears on our truck. In the next section I will explain using these keys. These buttons are going to be used to get all those lovely gears that a gearhead like myself loves. One is labeled "Shifter Toggle: 1" and the other is labeled "shifter toggle: 2". ![]() In our control settings (see images below) there are two very important hot keys that we have to set up. So how do we then magicly split these gears in half and put them into low and high range? This is where are our control settings within the game come in. Then there is a high range and a low range that when switched gives you another 4 forward gears which are then, again, split into high and low. ![]() It's actually 5 forward gears which are then split in half with what's called a splitter. In actual fact there aren't 18 gears in an Eaton Fuller 18 speed for one. Let's continue our example of the Eaton Fuller 18 speed. This comes from the way a truck transmission is set up. So how is this possible? How can we get 18 gears out of only 6 positions? In fact, there are even some trucks in real life that have up to 24 gears. You might look at an Eaton Fuller 18 speed and say to yourself, "I have 6 gear positions and there are 18 gears!". I think the first thing people notice when they first start looking at manual semi transmissions is the number of gears there are. ![]() ![]() While the video above doesn’t directly explain the items, it makes sense they were given them to fight the Jitterbug, especially the Lion’s bug catching net and pump-sprayer. Here is the complete track of the number accompanied by more of Alren’s home movies made during a camera rehearsal of the song a brief opening portio of the number is covered by stills of the stars. “The Jitterbug” took five weeks to rehearse and film and was cut from the picture after the first preview. This has proven to be the case with “The Jitterbug”, a found piece of footage that shows a home video created featuring the music and some rehearsal production from the movie: Many long-time fans conclude that the scene exists as part of a larger deleted portion of the movie that explains all of these items. It was brought up again in popularity (and my mind) recently due to a Cinemassacre video on the subject. While my impromptu experiment doesn’t conclude anything, I feel it at least raises some points on how this could be missed or completely forgotten. It’s only when we point out these oddities, the viewers become aware of them. This painting by Indian artist Kanwal Krishna after the installation of Tenzin Gyatso as 14th Dalai Lama became the official representation of the young spiritual chief of the Tibetan people. The teenaged ruler struggled with his responsibilities, but he firmly grounded all his decisions and actions in Buddhist philosophy. The small Tibetan army was unable to handle such an invasion.Īs a result, the Dalai Lama was forced to finish his studies and assume full political rule of Tibet. In 1950, 84,000 troops of the newly created People’s Republic of China launched a major invasion of Tibet. A regent governed the country while the 5-year-old Dalai Lama completed his rigorous religious education. ![]() The traditional ceremony enthroning the 14th Dalai Lama was attended by observing foreign dignitaries after a traditional Tibetan recognition process. In 1940 the 14th Dalai Lama was installed on the Lion Throne at the Potala Palace, a 1,000 chamber winter home of the Dalai Lama, located on the mountainside overlooking the city of Lhasa. The young boy was taken on a 3-month journey to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. The series of difficult tests that followed confirmed that Lhamo Thondup was the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama. In every case, he chose the Dalai Lama’s own objects and rejected the others. Later, when the young boy was presented with various objects, he selected those that belonged to the 13th Dalai Lama, stating, “It’s mine”. The monk said, “if you know who I am, you can have it.” The child said “Sera Lama, Sera Lama” and spoke with him in a Lhasa accent, in a dialect the boy’s mother could not understand. He held an old mala that had belonged to the 13th Dalai Lama, and the boy Lhamo Dhondup, aged two, approached and asked for it. Just two years later, in 1937, the high lama Kyestang Rinpoche (a Tibetan Buddhist spiritual master) has a vision at Lhamo Lhatso, an oracle lake in southern Tibet, which directed a group of Tibetan monks to the home of Lhamo Thondup.Īccording to the search lore, when the monks visited in disguise, posing as pilgrims, its leader, a Sera Lama, pretended to be the servant and sat separately in the kitchen. Lhamo Thondup (translated to “Wish-Fulfilling Goddess”) was born on July 6, 1935, to a poor family in the town of Taktser, situated in the Amdo region of northeastern Tibet. In 1937, Lhamo Thondup, later named Tenzin Gyatso, was identified as the 14the Dalai Lama of Tibet. The 13th Dalai Lama of Tibet died in 1933.Īt that time, the Tibetan people began the search to identify his reincarnation, their future leader. This belief is deeply rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist faith that an individual’s spirit remains, even after the physical body dies. Going 70 floors deep into the Classic Pit meant collecting 7 more badges to consider, and as I played my build began to take shape more and more. However, it takes time and repetition to build a collection that’s actually large enough to strive for a particular build. The moment you start playing Black Pit, you already have 30 BP to work with, so as you begin to discover badges it is pretty easy to throw them on. Badges are contained in the big chest on every 10th floor of the Classic Pit, or can be purchased at random from Oaklie for 500 coins. One mechanic I haven’t discussed much with regards to the Classic Pit or the Maze is how you accumulate badges. My stats upgrades really helped me to make some meaningful progress, and it also helped that the deeper I explored in the Classic Pit, the more my combat options expanded. Now that I understood the structure of the Maze and knew how to get around the traps pretty reliably, I did enough grinding to get 35 HP and 30 FP and set off for the Classic Pit once again. Since I had made it to floor 50 and only gotten as far as Parakarry, that meant I would need to get to floor 70 – 20 floors farther than the one I had already struggled to! – in order to find Watt. In Black Pit, partners are instead unlocked by reaching specific levels of the Classic Pit. Watt is the sixth partner you recruit in the game she is normally obtained during chapter four of Paper Mario 64 in Shy Guy’s toy box. This gave me some essential information about how to beat the Maze – I would need help from Watt, one of Mario’s partners. I discovered this completely on accident – while trying to avoid an enemy in one of the rooms, I happened to jump up and hit the hidden block in the room. Three symbols on the chest have to be locked in on three hidden blocks located in the corresponding treasure rooms at the opposite end of the Maze. This is made more complicated by the fact that one of the chests in the main lobby is sealed by a puzzle. ![]() The Maze is on a timer, so the challenge with this mode is to make your way past the traps and monsters as quickly as possible while opening every chest you can to collect the maximum number of star pieces. I ran out of room to depict the traps rooms that should link all the treasure chambers on the right side to the connecting chambers, but this gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the Maze. One of these leads to more treasure while the other leads to the master of the Maze, a boss that you have to beat in order to get one of the three artifacts necessary to beat the game. A third hallway connects these two corners, and the safe room between each corner and the connecting treasure chamber has a third path that branches downward. ![]() At the end of each hallway is a corner room with chests and enemies. Two doors on either end of the main lobby lead to long hallways including two trapped rooms connected by a single safe room. This required me to explore the Maze to the fullest.ĭespite being a Maze, the structure of this mode is actually relatively straightforward. These boosts are essential to making sure Mario can survive more difficult floors of the Pit, so I needed to make a concerted effort to boost both stats to the maximum. Star pieces have multiple important functions, the most immediately appealing of which being permanent increases to Mario’s HP and FP. This is a challenge focused less on battling (though battles are still a factor) and more on optimal movement through trapped rooms to find treasure chests full of star pieces. Today, I’ll share my progress up to this point as well as what I’m planning in order to prepare for my final hours with the game.ĭuring my last play session I spent a lot of time preparing for the Maze. ![]() Each of these modes gave me necessary resources to work my way towards the central challenge of the game: the Classic Pit.
